Now, you can showcase your products through videos and 3D animation. If you are running a business, it would be the best option for your customers to do AR shopping online and offline. I found it too easy to create AR experiences myself. 

First, sign up and select your business details. Then, name your project, and you can choose between app-based image recognition or web-based real-world experience. Its step-by-step guide will help you through the process. As soon as you upload a marker in an image file format, the app will scan it and create AR experiences. Now, add your content and publish it. 

Features: 

  • Compatibility: You can only test and create your AR experience through the app. Consumers can retrieve your content via this app. It can support videos, 3D animations, photo galleries, 360-degree visuals, and GIFs.
  • Analytics: Of course, for marketing, you need analytics. Overly app’s analytics tab offers detailed breakdowns of how your campaigns are running, with information like views, playtime, etc.

  • View in room 3D: Wayfair has launched its AR-powered tool, View in Room 3D. Online shoppers can experience how the products look and fit in their space, all from within their room. Its interactive photo lets them design their rooms anytime, anywhere. 
  • Integrated camera: Its camera-based tools allow shoppers to search visually and purchase products with a quick swipe. Let them click on the camera icon in the search bar of the Wayfair app and get camera-based features.

Drawbacks: 

  • You can customize your AR project with its Pro or Enterprise plan only.

It is easy to start: Install the Houzz Pro app on your mobile, scan your client’s space, and prepare it for a virtual remodel. As a property owner, I have experimented with its 3D floor plan. I also picked a home decor item and placed it in the exact space in my room where I wanted it. After that, I got suggestions for similar products to try. I found this feature pretty good.

Augment is also a selling tool for offline outlet owners or managers. They use their AR applications to display products in-store. Unlike other apps, Augment can capture and save your customer’s environment to simulate your products whenever necessary. 

Features: 

  • 3D viewer: You can install the 3D viewer on your websites and mobile apps within one hour. Your customers can view the products from different angles and check the dimensions displayed on the 3D product.

Edmunds is a car-shopping app. It has introduced an augmented reality feature: ‘Can It Fit’ for Android users. It allows car shoppers to experience how different vehicles will fit in their garages, parking spaces, and driveways before buying. Customers can browse and find their favorite car through their mobile devices. Interestingly, they can conduct a virtual fit test with multiple vehicles. 

It uses depth-sensing, area learning, and motion-tracking technology to scan a local environment and create a 3D mesh. Then, ARCore software will support the 3D mesh to determine if the 3D model of your vehicle would fit within the environment. 

The app itself is simple to use for consumers like me. I opened the app and used my phone’s camera to scan my garage, overlaying the 3D model of my chosen vehicle into the image to check how it would fit there. 

Features: 

  • AR experience: Customers can visualize how their selected cars would fit in their garages and parking spaces through the AR platform. They can check as many vehicles as are on this platform. If their driveways have no walls, they create virtual walls representing the exact environment. 
  • Compatibility: It is available on the Edmunds app version 8.5 for Android 7.0 and higher. Its AR tool, Can It Fit, is compatible with Android versions. 
  • Easy-to-use platform: The AR feature is available in the Tools menu and Vehicle Overview pages of the Edmunds app. Shoppers can access the AR solution by tapping on the button labeled "Can It Fit?"

Drawbacks: 

  • ‘Can It Fit’ feature is unavailable on the app if you don’t have Android 7.0 or higher. 

12. ARuler

AR ruler is an app for measuring various objects with the help of a smartphone camera. Using AR, it can also calculate areas, diameters, height, perimeter, volumes, and angles. It also allows you to measure the size of 3D objects. Consumers can measure the vertical and horizontal distance between two points in their room through mobile devices. Most importantly, this app can identify different surfaces and reference points to measure.

After detecting a surface, tap on the tool to start measuring. Tap again to create two reference points from which you will establish the measurement. Using ARuler, I have measured the size of my phone in centimeters. Other units can also be used for measurements. If you run a furniture business, you can let your customers take measurements like this to check if the item will fit in their space. 

Features:

  • 2D plane: You can generate a 2D plane by adding measurements on this platform and saving it for future use. All the reference points and the distance measurements between them will be applied to that plane. 
  • Photoruler: You can capture an object with a reference to measure its size. Take a reference object like a payment card, A4 paper, or any other rectangular object of known size. If you place the object to be measured on the same surface, the app will use the reference to calculate the dimension automatically. Measurement accuracy depends on the proper selection. 
  • Manual plan: You can make a plan by adding area, line, and angle measurements and save it on this platform. You need to upload a photo from your gallery or take one with your device’s camera. 

Drawbacks

  • Premium tools, measurement archives, and other facilities are available with subscription plans only.
